It’s not often that you come across an artist as unique, pure and daring as Italian singer and songwriter, Emma Tricca. The folk artist, who already has three mesmerising albums behind her name, is certainly a rare gem that, once you find it, it’s not easy to let go.

With her mellow, almost fragile tunes, Tricca has managed to win over large swathes of the indie and folk scene. Her latest album, St. Peter, is no exception. And, in honour of her current UK tour, Tricca has released a visually stunning black and white music video to coincide with the stand-out track of the album – The Servant’s Room.

From the first few notes of the song, you already know you’re in for something very different and exceedingly special. And, as the song takes you on a trip through memories and emotions, the video takes you on a personal journey through the streets of old-time New Jersey. It perfectly meshes with the song, leaving you feeling as though you’re almost intruding into Emma’s most personal thoughts.

Compared to Tricca’s previous albums – Minor White (2009) and Relic (2014) – St. Peter shows that Emma is not afraid to break free from the norm. Where her previous albums were predominantly acoustic and minimalist, her latest album takes a surprising experimental turn, making this one of Emma’s most daring albums to date. As always, she pays tribute to the places she’s visited, with the gritty feel of New Jersey coming through strongly in this album. However, Tricca manages to still maintain the gentleness that has made her previous songs so captivating.

Most of the songs on St. Peter were written in random coffee shops, tiny apartments, and lofts during her travels throughout London, New York, and Rome.

“I guess I seem to follow the inspiration when it comes,” Tricca explains. “Often the songs are sparked by everyday life images.”

Like a true modern-day poet going wherever life takes her and making the most of it.

Tricca’s latest album is available for purchase now as well as on iTunes and Spotify. For more on her current tour across the UK and upcoming events, you can check out her website and follow her on Facebook and Twitter.
