As their current lengthy trek as support to classic rock legends Europe moves on from the UK into well… Europe for the next leg of dates, multi award winning British blues/rockers King King have released details of their biggest UK headline tour to date.

Tickets will go on general sale on Friday 28th September after a 48 hour Planet Rock pre-sale. The shows will kick off at Nottingham’s famed Rock City on January 31st, take in other iconic venues including London’s Koko (Feb 7th) and the grand Town Hall in Birmingham (Feb 1st) before wrapping up with a huge show at the O2 Academy in frontman Alan Nimmo’s hometown of Glasgow on the 17th February.

Singer/guitarist Nimmo is backed up in the group by stalwart bass player Lindsay Coulson, long serving drummer Wayne Proctor and relative new boy Jonny Dyke on Hammond organ/keyboards. The four piece won three UK Blues Awards in May this year – after already sweeping the board in previous years. This year’s prizes included Blues Band Of The Year, Blues Songwriter Of The Year (Alan Nimmo) and Blues Album of The Year for Exile & Grace.

That record, the band’s fourth, scored a top 40 placing in the UK album charts with the somewhat harder edged sound – which never compromised Nimmo’s soulful vocals – proving a hit with rock radio listeners. The record’s three singles, (She Don’t) Gimme No Lovin’, Long Time Runnin’ and Broken got plenty of airplay proving the band’s new, rockier vibe to be a shrewd move.

The current tour with Europe has seen King King take things to the next level, with their standout performances receiving rave reviews and new ground broken for the band as they played legendary venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London for the first time.
