Legendary former Deep Purple bassist/singer, Glenn Hughes, will bring his ‘Classic Deep Purple Live’ tour to the UK this week, with nine dates beginning this evening in Bristol at the Academy and winding up in London at the Electric Ballroom on October 15th (a show which was recently moved from the Koko due to construction work – all original tickets are still valid for the new venue).

The tour will see the frontman, known across the globe as the ‘Voice Of Rock,’ perform a full set of Deep Purple songs in the UK for the first time since he left the group in the late 70s. The gigs follow rave reviews for his first trek with the format, which took place in Australia and New Zealand last year. It’s the latest success in a startling career renaissance for the 66-year-old Rock & Roll hall Of Fame Inductee and current frontman of rock supergroup Black Country Communion. In addition to four huge albums with that band, he also released the critically acclaimed solo work ‘Resonate’ in 2016 and continues to perform live with dynamite energy and enthusiasm that belies his elder-statesman status.

Expect Hughes to revisit classics like Burn and Stormbringer from his days in Deep Purple Mark III - which also featured David Coverdale, Ian Paice, Ritchie Blackmore and the late, great John Lord - as well as music from the underrated Mark IV lineup which brought in Tommy Bolin on guitar.

Anyone who saw Hughes’ last tour of the UK will know just how well his top-notch band (Soren Anderson on guitar, Jesper Bo Hansen, keyboards, and new drummer for the project Fernando Escobedo) capture the sound and feel of these iconic line-ups of Deep Purple, having witnessed two or three cuts from the 70s rockers being performed alongside solo material on the Resonate tour. Meanwhile Hughes’ bass playing is as dynamic as ever and that storied voice has lost none of it’s astonishing range and power.

Special guest for the UK shows will be young guitar wizard and blues prodigy Laurence Jones - who released his own highly-rated new record‘The Truth’ this year.

Hughes had this to say about the tour:

"I'm excited to be touring the “Classic Deep Purple Live” in Ireland and the UK this September and October. I first toured Classic Deep Purple Live in Australia and New Zealand last year and it went down like a storm. We’re also touring the show throughout South America in April, and festivals throughout the summer. By the time we tour the UK in October, we’ll be on fire.”
