Ferris & Sylvester Release New Video For 'London's Blues' - We Take A Look

London-based folk/blues duo Ferris & Sylvester have just dropped a new video for their track London Blues. The video follows the recent release of the animated video for Sometimes and is the second in a series directed by Neil Pymer of Aardman Studios.
Despite it’s buoyant feel London Blues has a somewhat sinister undercurrent, and the video depicts the band performing in a private members club while the women who work there seduce a guest. The contrast in feel and tone was something that attracted Pymer to the project, say the band.

The duo is made up of former solo artists Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester who joined forces as Ferris & Sylvester almost three years ago. They released their debut EP ‘The Yellow Line’ in 2017 and quickly followed that up with a second, from which London Blues is taken. The ‘Made In Streatham’ EP was released in February this year. The song has already had extensive recognition on radio, with Cerys Matthews being a particular supporter of the band on her Radio 2 Monday Night Blues Show. The track also, rather curiously, soundtracks the current Pukka Pies TV advert, and reached Spotify’s UK Viral Top 20 Chart.
The parent EP, meanwhile, has been streamed millions of times on Spotify, topped the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart and received critical praise from The Independent, The Sun and more, while the band have recently supported top artists like Robert Plant, Eric Clapton and Gary Barlow in amongst festival appearances at BST Hyde Park, Cambridge Folk Festival and Wilderness Festival.
Rolling Stone said of the newest EP, “A rich and fully realised sound that leaves you pining for a full length” while Mojo reckoned it was, "An overlooked masterpiece of Brit Folk that should already have made them household names."
The duo can
next be seen live at their upcoming show at Dingwalls in London on October 8th, playing with Donovan Frankenreiter. This is followed by dates in Manchester and Dublin before they return to the UK capital in November for a concert at the Electric Ballroom on the 16th alongside Trampled By Turtles.

“We had a lot of fun building up the ideas for this one with Neil. He was really interested in how the song moved, with its dark undertones put to an upbeat rhythm. The song is all about being a narcissist and the greed that comes with it; and nothing shows that more than seducing a man, tying him up and covering him in lipstick." - Ferris & Sylvester
