X Factor heartthrobs One Direction have announced that they will be releasing their debut single in June.
Speaking on the Alan Titchmarsh show on Monday the boys, who were finalists in the X Factor, confirmed that they were hoping to release their first single during the summer this year.
Member Zain Malik told Alan Titchmarsh: “We are looking to release in the summer, in June sometime.”
Liam Payne, also from the boyband, added: “We just want to make a massive track to start off with and see where it goes from there.”
Delays in the release of a single from the hugely popular act which was put together for the talent show have been rumoured to have been down to a lack of attention from their mentor on the show Simon Cowell. The boys from One Direction revealed that they very rarely get to see the music mogul since they finished being on the show.
While the boys may be ready to start work on their debut single they have already been very busy with other projects which have included them being signed to star in a new television campaign to promote the Pokemon Black and White from Nintendo.
The finalist of the X Factor will be working as “brand ambassadors” for Pokemon and are due to make appearances at a number of special events as part of the deal.
Fans will be able to see the band in action in the new television commercial to be aired for the first time on April 11 coinciding with an appearance to launch the game in Leicester Square in London.
