New UK chart launched on TV and radio

The Kiss TV and radio networks will be taking on BBC Radio 1 head on as it launches its own chart across the UK featuring the best in dance, hip hop and R&B.
The Bauer Media group have announced that the Kiss UKHot40 Big Beats Chart will be aired on a weekly basis and is to be hosted from big name artists who appear in the charts.
According to reports by Digitalspy, the Kiss chart is part of a joint initiative with Box TV while it will also be shown on the Kiss TV channel too, increasing the exposure of this fledgling chart.
In a bid to boost the ratings of the chart Rickie Haywood-Williams and Melvin O'Doom of MTV fame, have been brought in to host a show to broadcast once every two weeks on Kiss TV, with the first episode due to be aired on April 7.
“This is one hell of a chart,” said Andy Roberts, the group programme director from Kiss.
He added: “Rickie and Melvin will preset the official biggest tunes in the UK every fortnight on Kiss TV and Box TV and with the weekly show on Kiss radio, that's over 4.7 million viewers and listeners who will get the chance to see the most wanted 40 tunes each week.”
Meanwhile, Simon Sadler from Box TV has also raved about the plans for the new chart show: “We are hugely excited about Kiss's UKHot40 Big Beat Chart – it is another great example of a highly productive cross platform partnership for Box TV.”
He added: “Rickie and Melvin have been well known an well liked personalities to the audience of Kiss radio for a while now and we know that they will bring that popularity, energy and music knowledge to Kiss TV.
“The countdown is guaranteed to give viewers the biggest dance, hip hop and R&B music videos in the UK.”
