UK Singer Adele continues to break records

British award winning singer Adele, continues her reign at the top of the UK album chart this week while notching up another record in the process.

Adele has already stolen Madonna's crown for most weeks spent at number one for a female solo artist, previously held by Madonna with her greatest hits album the Immaculate Collection back in 1990.

Now Adele has broken the record for most downloaded album from Amazon.co.uk for her second album 21, this record was previously held by man band Take That for their album The Circus.

A spokesman for Amazon told the BBC: “Adele's success, particularly following her Brit Awards performance in February, has been phenomenal.

“2011 is already shaping up to be Adele's year with 21 achieving so much and her previous album 19 is also flying high in the Amazon MP3 download charts as our second most downloaded album of the year.”This is the 11th consecutive week that Adele's album, 21, has been at the top of the UK album chart while her debut album 19 continues to be snapped up by music lovers, although it did slip this week from the number two to the number three position.

Other big names in the UK charts this week include Katy B whose new album On a Mission went straight into the chart at number two while Scottish rockers Glasvegas went in at number 10 with their offering, Euphoric Heartbreak.

Meanwhile, in the singles chart the ladies are still ruling with Jennifer Lopez remaining on top with her single On The Floor featuring rapper Pit Bull while Katy Perry, with the help of Kanye West, saw her latest single E.T climb up the singles hart from number 12 to number five this week according to The Official Charts Company.
