Brit Award winner Jessie J has taken to Twitter to speak about her shock at the number of drunk members in the audience at her concert at the Trinity College ball in Dublin.

The singer tweeted that it had been one of the “hardest gigs” she had ever had to do and described how some of the students from the university were so drunk they were unconscious and being trampled on by others at the gig.

Jessie J said: “I'm not upset they weren't listening at all. It upset me to see so many young people not with it. I'm not used to it.”
The singer, who does not drink herself due to a medical condition added: “It's hard to sing when I just wanted to go into the crowd and help all the crying girls who were being squashed.”

While Jessie J may have thought that she was only trying to be a responsible performer by pointing out the problems at the concert some of those who attended have lashed back at the singer.

One student who attended the concert tweeted: “Are you being serious? Just be thankful you were performing on stage to your fans.”
In response to the backlash Jessie J went back to Twitter to say: “Can I just clear up that last night was a university ball and it was students, I was shocked at how intoxicated they were and I was genuinely worried for them. I am not used to it. That's all.”

Jessie J then added: “And it's not just in Ireland, it's everywhere. As a non drinker, I just want to spread the message that binge drinking is dangerous. I just care.”
Jessie J was not the only act to take to the stage at the event, she was joined by The Streets, BellX1 and The Rubberbandits at the prestigious university.
The Price Tag singer concluded: “Binge drinking exists everywhere and I never singled out Ireland. I had a great time in Ireland and met some incredible fans but this Twitter is about a journey so I'm not gonna ignore things that other me.”
