Top UK blues/rockers King King have officially announced their new bass player, Zander Greenshields, following the departure of Lindsay Coulson this weekend. Greenshields previously worked with King King frontman Alan Nimmo in his early bands Silvertrain and the Blackwater Blues Band, was a member of the Nimmo Brothers and - like the singer/guitarist - hails from Glasgow.

His appointment was kept under wraps while Coulson completed his final tour with the band over the past month. The bass player and founder member announced he was leaving just after New Year when King King signed a new worldwide management contract with US-based Siren Artist Management Inc. Family commitments and the further extensive touring the new deal will entail played a part in his decision to step down. Coulson stuck around for one final celebratory tour, however, which has received rave reviews across the UK this month.

He played his last ever show with the band this past Sunday at Glasgow's O2 ABC, during which Greenshields also made his debut, coming onstage late in the gig to play a couple of songs with the group.

The new bassist will join Nimmo, drummer Wayne Proctor and Hammond/keyboard player Jonny Dyke in the new-look line-up. His first full shows will be during the band's upcoming European dates, before he will join them in the studio this summer to record their new album. This record, their 5th, will be the follow-up to 2017's acclaimed 'Exile & Grace.'

In addition to tour dates in France, Norway and The Netherlands beginning in late March, King King will play KK's Steel Mill in Wolverhampton on 11th May, and will take part in Joe Bonamassa's 'Keep The Blues Alive At Sea' Mediterranean Blues Cruise from August 16-21.

The band posted the following on social media after the show:

'What an incredible UK Tour! Most definitely the best headlining tour for us yet. Great, great venues and crowds that blew our minds with such amazing enthusiasm. What awesome memories to last a lifetime! You guys also really helped with wishing Lindsay on his way and his next endeavours with style, we can't thank you enough! A little break now before we hit the road again in France, Norway and Holland in March and April Grab a ticket and come along to welcome the new boy on bass, the one and only Mr Zander Greenshields! See you all soon!'
