Justin Bieber has been announced as one of the nominees up for an award at the upcoming Webby Awards.
The Webby Awards celebrate the best of web content and the winners of the awards will be announced on May 3 with a celebration gala to be held on June 13 in New York.
This 15th edition of the Webby Awards covers almost 70 different categories with everything from religion to games covered in the ceremony.
One of the most highly contested prizes at the awards is the news prize which this year has an all American short list of the Huffington Post, Daily Beast, Wall Street Journal, New York Times and NPR.
The BBC is up for a total of seven awards including one for their World Service podcasts and another for the Eastenders E20 website.
Justin Bieber has been nominated at at the awards for “Justin Bieber Takes Over Funny Or Die” wile other celebrities up for prizes include Jim Carrey, Chevy Chase, Meryl Streep, Will Ferrell and Katy Perry.
Those who are lucky enough to win need to start brushing up on their acceptance speech. If the format follows previous years winners are only allowed five words for their speech so they will need to pick them carefully.
David-Michel Davie, the executive director of the Webby Awards said: “If you want to check the pulse of popular culture, look no further than this year's Webby Awards nominees.”
He added: “Over the past year, the nominees have dominated conversation, entertained us, changed how we work and play, and fueled our imaginations.”
