Long-running blues rockers Savoy Brown are to release a new album on Friday 7th June. Titled 'City Night' it will be issued by Quarto Valley Records (distributed by Proper) and is the group's 40th full length studio release.

The band, who have been running for over 50 years are still led by Kim Simmonds and scored a Billboard number 1 in 2017 so expectation is high for the new release. Savoy Brown were formed by Simmonds in London, England in 1965 and were contemporaries of Fleetwood Mac and Cream during the British Blues Boom of that era. They had hit singles with songs like 'I’m Tired,' 'Train to Nowhere,' 'Tell Mama and Lay Back In The Arms Of Someone' while 1970's albums 'Looking In' and 'Hellbound Train' made it into the Billboard Top Forty Chart.

Simmonds has led the band ever since as well as performing vocals and lead guitar. For more than ten years now they have had a consistent, strong line up including Pat DeSalvo on bass and Garnet Grimm on drums. Impressively, 2017 album 'Witchy Feelin' also cracked the charts, scoring the aforementioned Billboard Top Spot.

'City Nights' contains 12 brand new blues rock songs including potential singles "Walking On Hot Stones", “Payback Time" and "Don't Hang Me Out To Dry."

The band are also well-known for their high-energy live shows and have headlined venues from the Royal Albert Hall to both Fillmores (East and West) and Carnegie Hall over the years. They gave many legendary groups a platform in the early days, with bands such as Kiss, ZZ Top and The Doobie Brothers all opening for them on national tours.

To promote the new record the band have once again hit the road, with their final show of a short run of dates taking places tonight at Stramash in Edinburgh in conjunction with the Edinburgh Blues Club.
