Three of the top classic rock bands of the last several decades have announced a mouthwatering joint tour to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of some of their most iconic albums. Glasgow legends Gun will be joined by AOR heroes FM and funk rockers Dan Reed Network.
The trek, taking places in December 2019, will see Gun performing their debut album 'Taking On The World' in full, FM will present 'Tough It Out' in entirety and Dan Reed Network will play all of their acclaimed sophomore album 'Slam.' All three bands will also include some choice cuts from other albums as well. The tour will take in ten dates covering much of the UK, and the bands will take turns headlining.
The final show in Glasgow will be headlined by local boys Gun and will no doubt be particularly special as the band's Christmas hometown shows have become something of a celebratory tradition in recent years, and the fixture was sadly missed in 2018 due to other commitments.
Gun released 'Taking On The World' in mid-1989 and scored five UK top-75 singles from the album, including the top 40 hits 'Better Days' and 'Shame On You.' The band soon found themselves touring the world as support to The Rolling Stones on their Urban Jungle Tour. They later had a top ten hit with their cover of 'Word Up' by Cameo. The group split in 1997 but returned ten years later, still led by brothers Giuliano and Dante Gizzi, with the latter switching from bass to lead vocals in time for comeback album 'Break The Silence.' They've since gone from strength to strength with most recent album 'Favourite Pleasures' breaking into the UK Top 20.
FM formed in London in 1984. 'Tough It Out' was their second album, after 1986's 'Indiscreet.' The album followed a support slot on Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet tour, and was followed by FM's own 42 date UK headline tour. The band released three further albums before splitting in 1995. They returned with 'Metropolis' in 2010 and celebrated their 30th Anniversery in 2014 with headline sets at Cambridge Rock Festival and Planet Rockstock.
Hailing from Portland, Oregon Dan Reed Network were formed by frontman Dan Reed in 1984. They scored a top-40 Billboard chart single with 'Ritual' from their eponymous debut album in 1987, and had further success with Slam in 1989. The record was produced by Chic's Nile Rogers after he met Dan Reed at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction ceremony that year. DRN went one better than their new tour mates and ended up supporting both Bon Jovi and The Rolling Stones on tours in 1989/1990.
Gun, FM and Dan Reed Network are now hitting the road together, which will surely delight fans of 80's rock. The full list of shows is as follows:
