Emma Blackery was born in 1991 in Basildon, Essex, U.K and typically of a young person growing up, was influenced by different genres of music. Initially classic pop was her influence but then discovered pop-punk.
By the time she was 18 she had joined a local band but with little success. This moved her on and she started writing her own music and decided to go solo. Fortunately for her, she started uploading some of her music onto a video channel but more effectively initially, started to blog about her life. Emma comes across as a regular girl with some angst and being able to relate to her fan base, her honesty about her life with a humorous spin, appeals.
She has released a number of EP’s, namely, Human Behaviours, Perfect and more recently Villains. The Villains album saw Emma hit the top 25 of the UK charts and the Billboard ‘Heat Seekers’ Top 20, while it has been streamed close to 4 million times. Its release saw her featured in Radio 1’s ‘Best New Pop’ selection and also support from the likes of Metro, The Observer, Shout, Balance and other stations.
Currently she has released a killer single called, ‘cute without you’ which was launched through RWG Records. Emma produced the track alongside Toby Scott (Little Mix, Girls Aloud, The Saturdays), who was also behind Emma’s debut album Villains. Emma states that this is the best piece of music she has ever written and her favourite so far. Incredibly for Emma, from her fame as an internet sensation to doing tours she has come a long way.
However, the unique talent that Emma has, is in keeping it real with her fans and putting her view and life out there for all to see. Perhaps she will learn that the ‘ noise of haters’ shouldn’t ever influence who she is and keeping it authentic could influence the lives of many around her. It might just do that.
