It may be very early days on the Britain's Got Talent show but already one singing sensation has caught the eye of the media and the public alike.

Michael Collings, who is 19 years old and lives in a caravan park in Plymouth, stunned the judges and the audience with his performance of Fast Car by Tracey Chapman.

And already his popularity has turned him into a viral sensation with more than 1 million people watching his performance on YouTube since his audition has been televised.

Michael also has had backing from teen superstar Justin Bieber.

The Canadian singing sensation told The Sun newspaper that he thought that Michael Collings “really was an amazingly talented guy. I am sure his life will never be the same again.”

He added: “It's a cliche but these shows really were designed for people like Michael. You would think that after Susan Boyle, people would be prepared for the unexpected. But I still don't think anybody expected that.”

“I know we are only one show into the season, but I am guessing he must be a big favourite already.”

And the book makers look to be agreeing with Justin Bieber as they have already given Michael 9/1 odds to win the series out right.

Michael Collings spoke to daybreak about how the whole experience had already changed his life and explained how he learnt to play the guitar by watching clips on YouTube and copying them as his parents had been unable to afford lessons for him.

He said: “I would see how it was done and copied what I saw. I had a real passion for it.”

When asked about about how he was feeling about his performance on the Saturday edition of Britain's Got Talent, he said: “I am speechless. I definitely wasn't expecting this. I was expecting a crowd response. But it was amazing – the standing ovation and cheering. It was a shock to my system.”
