Grace Carter is a 21-year-old singer from Brighton. Her soul searching songs that you will probably recognize are; ‘Silence’ and ‘Why Her Not Me’. In 2019 she has released ‘Heal me’. She’s making waves by collaborating with some of the big stars, namely supporting roles for artists such as Mabel, Dua Lipa and Rag’n’Bone Man with their tours last year. She also headlined two tours in the UK and was placed third in the BBC Music’s ‘Sound of 2019’
Her songs are emotional, and some of them are heartbreaking and in particular with the song ‘Silence’ her tears flowed while she was singing. In some songs, she sings accompanied by the piano. Her soulful and often sad music can be attested to the fact that she discovered her father was an absent figure because he was raising another family at the same time. It affected her badly growing up and in fact she states that she was quite an angry person.
Her debut album is imminent, and she has been signed up with Polydor. In regards to her style of writing and what the songs were about, she was quoted as saying that her song ‘Why Her Not Me‘ was about why her dad chose the other family and not her.
In the past 24 hours Grace announced on her Facebook page her new single ‘Don’t Hurt Like It Used To’ will be released this Friday.
Grace will be performing at the Jazz Festival in July with Eddy de Preto in Montreux Switzerland and is going to be a very busy lady with all the performances coming up in 2019.
To name but a few of the concerts lined up; 27 June-30 June- Festival park Belgium, 4 July-7 July- Barn On the Farm- UK- 5 July-Marlay Park- Ireland and many more you can check out on her Facebook page and other platforms.
In one particular question she was asked what she actually does on tour, to the reply she said she is rather boring... She drinks a glass of water backstage and then tries to meet as many of her fans as possible and when the band want to go out for a drink, she chooses to go home and relax.
Sounding rather mature beyond her age... I wonder what her father thinks now. Regrets much?
