Singer/songwriter Danny Vaughn will drop his new solo record Myths, Legends and Lies on 7th June via Townsend Music. Well-known as lead singer with classic rockers Tyketto, he has said that this is the solo album he always wanted to make.

The fourteen track release has been in the works for many years, and Vaughn has had to overcome various struggles and obstacles to finally bring the project to fruition. "It's an album I've been talking about making for over fourteen years,” Danny explains, “A bunch of songs I call my orphans: they're a group of numbers, collected over decades, that I never found a proper home for. This is the music I make when left to my own devices. When there is no schedule to satisfy and no target audience to audition for."

The album was recorded, engineered and mixed by Tim Hamill at Sonic One Studios, Llangennech, Wales, and mastered by Sean Magee [Deep Purple, John Lennon, The Ramones, and The Beatles] at Abbey Road Studios.

Known for his tremendous, powerful and melodic voice, Vaughn released notable tracks like Wings, Seasons and the rock disco classic Forever Young with Tyketto. They reformed in 2004 after splitting in the mid-90's, and in 2016 released the acclaimed album 'Reach.' Vaughn was previously the vocalist for UFO bassist Pete Way's solo band Waysted (1985-1987), and also sings with the Ultimate Eagles. His last solo album was released eleven years ago, making this new release much anticipated amongst fans.

Myths, Legends and Lies is based both in Vaughn's myriad musical influences, as well as his love of storytelling. “As songwriters and musicians grow older they are continually exposed to different forms of music, types of instruments, sounds and timbres" he says, "There is so much out there to excite and inspire us."

Myths, Legends & Lies is a result of that and also of having been brought up in a family with a strong storytelling tradition" Vaughn goes on, "As a child my parents read to me almost every night. Greek mythology, The Lord of the Rings, The Stories of the Monkey King and Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes: all resound inside of me with the sound of my parents’ voices. They allowed me to paint my own mental pictures and that’s what I hope these songs will do for the listener.”

Accordingly the new album features tales of kings and heroes, gunslingers and derelicts, and not all have a happy ending. In fact, the record itself nearly had an unhappy conclusion, as the collapse of PledgeMusic threatened the very recording itself.

“I became a victim of the PledgeMusic difficulties,” admits Danny, but he reflects, “Looking back, perhaps the headache caused by PledgeMusic was actually a blessing. It gave me the push & impulse I probably needed to get the job done and it also made me realize, more than anything, that the fans are on my side and they are indispensable and significant. And if you have fans on your side, nothing is impossible.”

Despite these difficulties, Vaughn and his collaborators have managed to comeplete the album in time for it's planned release date. He will also take the record on the road with a batch of UK tour dates already announced as follows:

May 30: Yardbirds in Grimsby, UK

July 11: Bannermans in Edinburgh, UK
