Five-piece rock & roll group Piston have just dropped a new single, the second release from their upcoming debut album. The track, 'Rainmaker' is a slice of no-holds-barred rock with crashing drums, incisive bass and furious riffs all leading to a shoutalong chorus. It was produced by Dan Smith and remixed by Romesh Dodangoda and follows the lead single 'One More Day' which received airplay on Planet Rock and BBC Radio 2's Rock Show amongst others.

Guitarist Jack Edwards describes the recording of the single, “Rainmaker was the very first track we recorded for the album. You can hear all of our excitement in the track — we were all back together in one room and we tracked it right then and there! We love it and its not perfect, and we don’t want it to be — rock n’ roll has never been perfect. It’s a huge step in the new sound of Piston, it will easily stand there with some of the modern greats, but it most certainly pays homage to some of our idols.”

The majority of the band - Edwards & Luke Allatt (Guitars), Stuart Egan (Bass), Brad Newlands (Drums) - hail from the midlands, while singer Rob Angelico provides the 'vocal roar' from down south. The will release their much anticipated self-titled debut album on Friday 13th September. It was recorded at Silk Mill Studios in Newcastle Under Lyme and also produced by Dan Swift (Iggy Pop, Depeche Mode).

Dovetailing the album's release, the band will embark on a co-headline UK tour with fellow rockers Collateral. Dubbed the 'Stand Up, Shout It Out! Tour' it will see the two bands cover eleven dates - nine shows together and one apiece solo, as noted below - beginning in Leicester in 12 September and concluding in Gravesend on October 4th with stops in Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester and London all included.
