Sea Girls - major things on the horizon with new signing & upcoming tour

Sea Girls are an Indie rock band from London. Although established in 2015 it’s not until late that the band has really started gathering momentum. The band has recently been included in the BBC's Sound of 2019 and Radio X added them to their successful act predictions of 2019. Last month they signed Polydor Records with a multi-album deal.

With a string of major festival slots on the horizon, and last week Greg James adding them to his ‘Tune Of The Week’ on BBC Radio1, the band continue to forge their name in the public domain.

Their music will likely fit most Indie pop fans requirements. Their songs are a safe concoction of upbeat anthems sure to get any crowd moving - this could explain why they have so many upcoming festival slots. Hints of the 1975’s can be heard at times - this no meat feat considering their success. Genre wise, they seem to find middle ground between Indie pop, Rock and Alternative, proving to be quite diverse in their style.

The group met at school and have been writing and performing music together ever since. Having started off juggling between a tight gig schedule and full time jobs, this gave very little space for anything else. Their influences are said to be drawn from The Killers, The Strokes and Kings Of Leon.

They were quoted as saying “I wouldn’t say we settle on a defined "Sea Girls" sound' as that would limit us. It’s always good to be open minded with a sonic direction and get the songs as essential as possible. We want to write songs that are good enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with Sigrid or Amy Winehouse or Royal Blood or The 1975. The bands that resonate through any period of music are the ones with the strength of writing and writing they do, consistently”.

Continuing to be inspired by the fact that they don’t take anything for granted, from starting out playing to maybe 20 people, they’re now selling out back to back shows and booking major festivals and gigs. Although this is a ‘hobby’ for the band, they take this very seriously and want to honour their biggest assets, their fans, by being available to perform and they do so with new music and on a regular basis. Their goal is to continue writing, performing, discovering and making great music.

Later this month they're supporting the Sterophonics at the The Eden Sessions:
