New Audio Recognition App Sold to Yahoo $30 Million 12 Weeks After Launch
- in Latest
A new app created by Adam Cahan has reportedly been sold to Yahoo! For a massive $30 million only 12 weeks after it was originally launched.
IntoNow is a social networking tool which allows users to let their friends know what television programme they are currently watching and has proved to be massively
successful for iPhone users however there are now plans for the app to be rolled out to other platforms and smartphones.
The sale of the app has drawn attention to the new dot com boom fuelled by the sales of apps for mobile phones with the money paid to Adam Cahan being equivalent to around $30,000 per day for his work on the app.
The app is able to scan audio waves to be able to identify what show you are currently watching with this then being used to update your status on Twitter and Facebook while IntoNow is also able to name that show it also states the episode and the time of airing for shows from the last five years.
Based on this, the app is then able to create suggestions based on the interests of the user of the app and shows that their friends have been watching.
IntoNow may being billed as the next must have app by Google however it is far from the first to become a phenomenon and make its creators instant dot com millionaires.
Previous other hits include iShoot which made a massive $600,000 in only a month, iSteam which recreated the effects of a hot bathroom on the screen which made $100,000 in three months and Trism which made its creator Steve Demeter one of the first people to be able to make a living from apps.
