Cassie may just be focussing on music again. The American singer, dancer, actress, and model has released her newest r&b love song titled “Excuses”.

It is important to note that Cassie is not new to the entertainment industry. She has made appearances on popular films like Step Up 2: The Streets and Honey 3: Dare to Dance. The 32-year-old artist has also won multiple awards. Cassie’s hit song “Me & U” received the “Most Performed Song” award back in 2007 and she was awarded “Beauty and Bombshell of the Year” by Toyota in 2017. Although the talented artist hasn't been releasing much music in her recent years, Cassie has blessed us with her new smooth track “Excuses” which is perfect for whenever you're feeling some calm r&b vibes.

[Chorus]

I gotta care about myself more than I have been

Because I just can't go on being your air

If I can't breathe

I can't be your strength

If I don't take care of me

This is an excuse that is needed

This is an excuse that is needed

Lately I've been feeling greedy

So there you have my reason

This is an excuse that is needed

[Verse 2]

Let me know if I need a life jacket

You know my tears fall that much?

Baby I don't want you stranded

If you're not gonna be

Sure about what you say

'Cause baby it's that way with me

'Cause I don't use my words if I don't know

Exactly what they mean

“Excuses” is a song has a smooth r&b feel complimented by a soft base. Cassie comes in with her soft yet soulful voice over the beat and carresses it all the way through. Through her lyrics, we enter the mindset of a woman who is finally working on herself for the betterment of herself. Many of us can relate to a situation where we loved someone so much that we forget to love ourselves and Cassie gets that. This break up song takes a unique approach because it seems to be coming from the perspective of a person who is breaking up with their partner although they still have so much compassion for that person. Overall, Cassie’s “Excuses” adds a new element to r&b love songs and we are here for it.
