Singer Ellie Goulding was handed the very difficult honour of being asked to be the entertainment for the royal wedding party this weekend and has described the concert at Buckingham Palace as being a “very surreal experience”.
The singer spoke on the BBC programme, The One Show about her turn on stage to entertain the 650 guests assembled at an after dinner party hosted by none other than the Queen herself.
Ellie was also given the daunting task of performing the song that the newly named Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would dance their first dance to.
She said on the show: “It was a very surreal, incredible experience. I will never forget it. It was amazing.”
When she was asked f she had been nervous about giving a performance to such an audience she said: “I get nervous quite a lot generally so yes, I was.”
She added: “It was a good night. Everyone having fun.”
Ellie Goulding was then asked about some of the details of the concert but admitted that she could not remember how many songs she sang for the couple but guessed at “quite a few”.
The singer, who has seen chart success with her cover of the Elton John hit Your Song, first met the royal couple last year.
“I met them at a festival last year. Quite strangely I was introduced to them by Tinie Tempah who is also a friend of mine.”
