Scottish blues/rock duo Taped Live today release a brand new song from their debut album, with the track made available first here on Music Talkers.

The song, titled 'Every Time I Sin' showcases the band's signature powerful drumming and crushing guitar riffs. Sticksman Sal brings the groove while guitarist/vocalist Leo supplies layers of visceral guitar - including typically scorching solo - as well as a pacey, gritty vocal.

"This track was a fun one" says Leo, "It started off with that drum beat from Sal and we built the rest of the track around that. We like how simple it is and we tried to keep the simplicity throughout. That's when I think we are at our best. I only play the same three chords in the song and Sal's driving rhythm is very minimal, it's only by adding layers and making things louder that the track diversifies at all. We like playing with that idea a lot in our music and this track is a really good example of that we think."

I love the way the song builds towards the end" adds Sal, "After it drops off back to the main beat we build it up again with a cool breakdown to a full crashy ending. That's really fun live."

As for the lyrics of the song, "The lyrics came after we wrote the music" Leo explains, "The structure of the song is very repetitive in it's nature and I felt that the lyrics needed to follow this as well. I repeat the words "Every time I..." at the start of each verse which has the effect of a double meaning almost. Those words are literally at the start of "every" line which ties in quite well with the overall theme of the track, the idea of things going around in your head and repeating the same thoughts again and again while hoping that you will break the cycle somehow."

'Every Time I Sin' is the group's second release from the record, following lead single 'Paper Planes' which dropped in May accompanied by a great evocative-yet-amusing video conflating the band's performance with footage of early aviation disasters. The band's debut album itself, meanwhile, will arrive later on this month. 'Song House Of The Forest Men' will be released on July 26th with a launch show taking place that night at Broadcast in Glasgow. The gig will also feature support from Bikini Bottoms and The Manolettes. Full details can be found on the event page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/489387768468296/

'Song House Of The Forest Men' was recorded by the band themselves in central Scotland late last year. It was self-produced by the group and mastered by Pete Maher (U2/Jack White/Pixies). The record will be the band's full length debut and follows last year's short EP 'Take My Picture,' and 2017's seven-track release, 'Seven Sounds.'

The record is the culmination of a long-held dream for the boys. As Sal puts it, "We have always wanted to make an album since we started playing together and now that we've done it and actually have it here, it makes us very proud. We just can't wait to share it with everyone."

We are very happy with how the album has turned out" Leo goes on, "Considering the process was a bit of a learning curve and we gave ourselves so many restrictions, we think we've created something quite special and like Sal said we just want to everyone to hear it!"
