Scottish alt-rock four piece She Burns Red have announced that they will be working with star producer Toby Jepson on their upcoming debut EP.
The band hope to fund the project through a Kickstarter campaign which has so far seen great success - there's still time to contribute with just under two weeks left on the project.
Englishman Jepson is best known as frontman of 80's/90's rockers Little Angels who had twelve top-40 singles and a number one album, Jam (1993), before splitting in 1994. In the 00's Jepson had a successful solo career with support slots for bands like Thunder and Glenn Hughes. He also had short stints as lead singer of Fastway and GUN. He has also built up a reputation as a top producer for acts like The Virginmarys, Saxon and Chrome Molly. In 2017 he returned to the live circuit with new band Wayward Sons who released their debut album later that year.
Jepson is currently on tour with Wayward sons but says he's “looking forward to working with guys from ‘She Burns Red’ on their forthcoming EP" adding, "It’s always great to work with exciting new talent, and they are no exception.”
She Burns Red spun off from another band around two years ago, and have gone from strength-to-strength in the last twelve months with live dates all around the country. They have played shows supporting bands like Bigfoot and Trucker Diablo, and appeared at Festivals like Wildfire and Live In Livi, and will soon headline the unsigned stage at Rock In The Park in Wales. They have so far released two singles, their debut 'My Curse' in May 2018, followed by 'Interstellar' in December of that year. Watch the video for the Interstellar here.
There's been some troubles along the way and recently the band had to overcome the loss of drummer Adam McNaughton who left the group earlier this year. Fortunately former Amorettes drummer Hannah McKay stepped in to help the band fulfill their live commitments. Even better, McKay will join the rest of the band - singer/bassist James McCulloch, guitarist/vocalist Andy Moore and guitarist Craig Hughes - in recording the EP later this year.
With a third single in the works already, the band say an EP is the next logical step. The record will include four previously unreleased tracks. The group are offering rewards such as signed CDs, T-shirts and handwritten lyrics for those who pledge towards their Kickstarter campaign - they'll even come and play at your house!
