Canadian artists have been on a roll this summer. Today we highlight 23-year-old singer and songwriter Alessia Caracciolo, also known as Alessia Cara.

A few days ago, the Grammy award-winning artist tweeted that she will be dropping a new song every few weeks leading up to the release of her new EP titled This Summer due in September. This week, Alessia Cara has kicked us off by dropping her new track titled “Ready”.

The pop-sounding song starts off with a banging instrumental paired distorted drum beats and rising electrified sounds. Nevertheless, once Alessia’s vocals are introduced onto the track, we get a personal look at her perspective when it comes to being ready for a romantic relationship.

Since signing with EP Entertainment and Def Jam Recordings back in 2014, Alessia Cara has racked up a stellar resume in just 5 years. With her influences including everyone from Lauryn Hill to Pink, Alessia has succeeded in covering multiple genres through her artistry ranging from indie-pop to alternative R&B. Several of her songs such as “Here” and “Scars To Your Beautiful” have made appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She has also collaborated with multiple icons in the music industry like Zedd and Logic. Alessia has even made appearances on television from her TV debut back in 2015 on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show to being a musical guest on the legendary show Saturday Night Live. Currently, she is on tour with Shawn Mendes and is preparing for her U.S Pains of Growing tour which she recently announced. With her new track “Ready”, we can only hope for Alessia to gain even more popularity.
