It is already being hailed as the most powerful smartphone to come onto the market and now it has been revealed that the Motorola ATRIX is to use fingerprint recognition to allow only authorised users to use the phone.

According to reports the phone will require the user to touch the touch screen several times when they first purchase the phone to allow the phone to then read the finger print.

This fingerprint will then be used to authorise and approve operations that are then performed on the smartphone in a move that is hoped will provide a very high level of security or the phone and protect the information stored on the device in the event that i falls into the wrong hands.

The ATRIX is already breaking smartphone boundaries with it being able to be converted into a personal computer, laptop or sat nav device through the lapdock feature on the phone.

A spokesman from Spymaster security equipment suppliers, told the Daily Mail: “Biometric fingerprint security is the best way to protect your device. This type of technology offers consumers a new level of security surpassing anything we have seen before on a smartphone.”

Customers in the UK will be able to buy the new ATRIX phone through the Orange network.

“This really is the ultimate smartphone for gadget fans packed full of tech wizardry and features that any aspiring spy would be proud of, With its multimedia accessories and ground breaking fingerprint swipe access, this is an innovative handset that Orange is proud to be bringing to the UK first,” said a spokesman for Orange UK.
