This week pop music icon Taylor Swift released her new song “The Archer”. A few days ago, Swift did a livestream where she revealed her positive experience working with singer and songwriter Jack Antonoff on the song.
“He is phenomenal, we’ve worked together for a while and I’m so proud of the work that we’ve done on this album.” Swift shares. “The Archer” is once again a melodic track where Swift opens up about her insecurities when it comes to romantic relationships, hence the line “Who could ever leave me darling, but, who could stay”. The emotional vunerability she expresses through her lyrics on this track, in addition to her angelic vocals, simply emphasizes her being talented and very relatable to her audience.
Recognizable Lyrics:
All the king's horses, all the king's men
Couldn't put me together again
'Cause all of my enemies started out friends
I've been the archer, I've been the prey
Who could ever leave me, darling
(I see right through me, I see right through me)
“The Archer” is the third song Swift has dropped from her long-awaited upcoming album Lover to be released next month. However, many fans speculated a song like this was coming in response to the several teasers. Many believed Swift first teased the song in the visual for her song “ME!”, including a scene with several Cupid-like angels. Also, Swift’s music video for her song “You Need to Calm Down” featured a scene where Hayley Kiyoko shot an arrow into a target.
Although “The Archer” could be considered one of Taylor Swift’s most moving songs to date, it’s been thirteen years since Taylor Swift put out her first album. In those thirteen years, she has formulated one of the most impressive resumes in music. The 29-year old from Pennsylvania has been labeled as an iconic singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress worldwide. Just last year during the American Music Awards, Taylor Swift became the most awarded woman in AMA history surpassing Whitney Houston with a total of 23 awards. For the rest of 2019, we can only foresee Taylor Swift reaching higher heights.
