US country music sensation Scotty McCreary has announced an additional date for the forthcoming UK leg of his European tour after the initial dates sold out within just hours of going on sale.

The Manchester date has also been upgraded from the 470-capacity Academy 3 to Academy 2, which can hold up to 970 people.

The singer – who won the tenth season of American Idol back in 2011 – is currently enjoying success in the US country charts with his latest single In Between, written by McCreery, Frank Rogers, Jessi Alexander, and Jonathan Singleton and produced by Rogers.

It’s the third single from McCreery’s wildly successful fourth album Seasons Change, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart, and was named by none other than Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 40 best country and Americana albums of 2018.

McCreery’s UK tour has been arranged as part of Country Music Week, a seven-day festival of country gigs, shows, and events across London in October designed to celebrate country music in all its forms. 

Writing on his official website, McCreery said: “I’ve received numerous e-mails and social media messages from fans asking me to perform in the UK and Germany. I am happy to finally announce that I’m coming over in October and I cannot wait to be there.  

“One of my goals for the last few years has been to perform overseas. To sell out my first ever shows in England on the first day of general on-sale is amazing and beyond what I ever expected. I cannot wait to come over there in October.”
