Texas-born country and blues singer and songwriter Charley Crockett has confirmed his new album The Valley will be released through Thirty Tigers in the UK on November 22nd.
The album is Crockett’s fifth studio release, and will be preceded by lead singles Borrowed Time and The Valley.
Crockett, who is a distant relative of Davy Crockett, endured a difficult upbringing and hit the road on his own at 17, before coming to the attention of the music industry while busking on the streets of New York in 2009. He later spent time living in France, Spain and Morocco, before returning to his native Texas. Crockett’s self-released debut album, 2015’s A Stolen Jewel, earned him a Dallas Observer Music Award for Best Blues Act.
Crockett has also battled ill health his whole life, and he revealed earlier this year that he has been diagnosed with Wolf Parkinson’s White syndrome, a congenital heart condition.
Writing on his official website, Crockett said:
I ended up having two lifesaving heart surgeries in January of this year. I recorded this album one week before those surgeries. I needed to have these songs in case I didn’t get through. I needed them just to tell people my story. To show folks what I’ve been through in my life. I feel like I’m living on borrowed time in a lot of ways.”
Accompanying the release of The Valley, Crockett has announced a 21-date European tour, including six dates in the UK in early September.
The Valley track list:
- Borrowed Time
