Lady Gaga Joins Facebook Game Farmville Selling 'Gagville'
- in Latest
One of the most popular names in pop; Lady Gaga has teamed up with one of the biggest sensations on the internet; Farmville.
The singer and the game have joined forces to create a new neighboring in game farm which is due to go live on May 17 and will run until May 26 as part of promotion by Lady Gaga for her upcoming new album Born This Way.
Players will be able to buy virtual items from Gagaville including crystals and unicorns and although the game extension is only available for a short period however the items will remain live long after Gagville ceases to exist.
This appears to be a very smart move from Lady Gaga who is directly targeting the millions of Farmville players from around the world.
Along with the special features players of the game will also be able to listen to music yet to be released from the Born This Way album while they play via a special player embedded within Gagaville.
Fans of Lady Gaga may be left a little disappointed though as there are no plans for a Lady Gaga avatar to appear in the Gagaville game,
Raquel Di Sabatino from Entertainment Strategy said that she hoped that this would be the first of many partnerships and tie ups between the game and musicians and media brands creating a cross platform marketing opportunity.
She said: “By doing this partnership with Lady Gaga, we are going to learn what resonates best with our players and hope to emulate those points with any further partnerships.”
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga said of the game: “I want to celebrate and share Born This Way with my little monsters in a special way that's never been done before.
“Zynga has created a magical place in Farmville where my fans can come and play and be the first to listen to the album.”
