Dublin-based four-piece folk outfit Lankum have confirmed their new album The Livelong Day will be released on October 25th through Rough Trade Records.

A video for lead single The Wild Rover – a reworking of the classic folk song – is out now, and features some stunning shots of the Irish countryside, and is directed by Ellius Grace.

Speaking about the release of the single, the band said through the Rough Trade Records website: “It's a fairly popular song which most of you will be somewhat familiar with, though this version and its extra verse – which we got from legendary Drogheda singer Donal Maguire – turns the happy-go-lucky narrative firmly on its head."

Recorded at the Meadow and Guerrilla Sounds studio and produced by John ‘Spud’ Murphy, The Livelong Day follows on the heels of Lankum’s last album Between The Earth And The Sky, a record that earned the band the Best Group and Best Original Track (for The Granite Gaze) at the 2018 BBC Folk Awards in Belfast.

Comprised of brothers Ian and Daragh Lynch, Cormac MacDiarmada and Radie Peat, Lankum have won fans and garnered a reputation for their atmospheric and euphoric live shows. In support of the new album, they’re heading out on a 17-date European tour this autumn.

The Livelong Day track list:

  1. 1. The Wild Rover
  2. 2. The Young People
  3. 3. Ode To Lullaby
  4. 4. Bear Creek
  5. 5. Katie Cruel
