American rockers Greta Van Fleet have released a new single that is taken from the soundtrack to the new Sam Taylor-Johnson film A Million Little Pieces, based on the controversial memoir (later re-branded as a novel) of the same name by writer James Frey.

The song – titled Always There – is in fitting with much of the band’s output to date, a gloriously retro affair that invokes comparisons with the likes of Led Zeppelin. It’s the band’s first new release since their debut album Anthem Of The Peaceful Army was released through Lava/Republic Records last year.

Writing on Facebook, the band said: “Always There was originally recorded for inclusion on Anthem Of The Peaceful Army, but it was ultimately decided the song didn't fit the tone of the album. Thus, it appeared to us serendipitous when A Million Little Pieces requested to use it in the film's soundtrack. We are pleased to share this song with you.”

Comprised of twin brothers Josh (vocals) and Jake (guitar), younger brother Sam (bass/keys) Kiszka, and longtime family friend Danny Wagner (drums), Greta Van Fleet have earned a reputation for their swaggering live shows, honed over a relentless touring schedule that has seen the band more or less constantly on the road over the last two years.

They’re currently midway through another series of tour dates in the USA, with a European tour following this autumn.
