It looks like it could be the end of the American dream for Cheryl Cole as it is being rumoured that the Girls Aloud star has been dropped from the US version of the hit television talent show of the X Factor.
According the the entertainment website TMZ.com sources have told the site that the producers of the show are worried that Cheryl Cole's strong Geordie accent has been too difficult for audiences to be able to understand.
Cheryl has only so far completed two weeks of the filming of the show which is due to be aired on the Fox network in the autumn.
She caused a stir when she arrived for the first rounds of audition filming with her big hair and bright clothes and was reported to have been building up a rapport with Paula Abdul with the two working together to “annoy” Simon Cowell on the show.
It is being rumoured that Nicole Sherzinger, the former lead singer of the Pussy Cat Dolls, will take the place of Cheryl on the US judging panel.
There had always been concerns about Cheryl's accent by television bosses and she had proves to a controversial choice by Simon Cowell as she is an unknown celebrity in the US.
TMZ said that their source had told them that producers of the show were also concerned about the “lack of chemistry” between Cheryl Cole and Paula Abdul.
Cheryl Cole gave up her spot on the UK X-Factor to take the role on the US show and it is said that Simon Cowell had been convinced that the audience would love her voice but this does not seem to have been the case and now Cheryl is left looking for a job, although it could all work quite well if she and Nicole simply swap their seats across the Atlantic.
There has been no comment from Cheryl Cole or from Fox surrounding the rumours.
