Swedish singer-songwriter Winona Oak wears her heart on a sleeve in new song ‘Let Me Know’, a powerful pop ballad about falling in love a little too hard, a little too deep.
Having previously collaborated with the likes of the Chainsmokers as well as Australia electronic dance music maverick What So Not, she carves her own path in the industry with a sweet, gentle yet immensely passionate tune that has got all the hallmarks of a classic pop composition: sharp piano cords, tonal shifts between slight and intense, the double bass providing a solid, roaring boost in the chorus and most significantly, Oak’s controlled, moving vocals that gush out in waves, holding enough force to blow the roof off. Such a dramatic approach is suited to a track that deals with matters of the heart; a striking, zealous love story that requires a personality booming through the speakers, which Oak provides with abundance throughout.
Now as a musical artist signed to Neon Gold/Atlantic Records, Oak gets to explore and apply her creative energies that she has spent her entire life honing whilst growing up across Swedish farms and training to be a horse acrobat. Her songwriting and production abilities flourish in this song, as evidenced by the elaborate arrangement of instrumentation in the chorus, which includes the cheery, rollicking, Christmas-esque sound, as conveyed by the chimes and violins, as well as a rock-tinged ferocity provided by the brisk, thundering hit of the electric guitars.
A note must be made for the equally enchanting music video, which functions as a beautiful complement to the themes explored in the track. Featuring a series of fast vignettes of couples expressing their love for each other in ways that vary from adoration to affection to obsession to adventure, the video communicates the inclusive, broad aspects of romantic love that affect most, if not all, individuals on earth. It is tender, diverse, clever and ultimately heartfelt, much like Winona Oak’s expanding discography that has fans swooning for more.
