Her fashion choices may not be suitable for the average person on the street but they have certainly drawn attention to both her as an artist and a singer.
Last night Lady Gaga added another trophy to her awards cabinet as she won the fashion icon trophy at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards ceremony.
Living up to her iconic status Lady Gaga turned up to the show sporting a turquoise wig black full length ruffle skirt, sheer top and gravity defying “horse hoof” shoes.
Gaga was cited by the CFDA as being a “fashion revolutionary” with some of her more well known outfit choices including the infamous meat dress and the over exaggerated should padded jackets, as well as her interesting choices in hats and footwear.
“All of you made me feel like a star before I was,” said Lady Gaga to the audience as she picked up the award at the Lincoln Center in New York.
Other winner soon the night included the photographer Arthur Elgort and fashion designer Marc Jacobs.
Jacobs was given the Geoffrey Beene lifetime achievement award.
He said: “This achievement is born of love, passion, creativity and a hell of a lot of hard work. I believe we all know and feel the greatest award is the process itself.”
Steven Kolb, the executive director of the CFDA, said: “There is no other event that puts the spotlight on American fashion like the CFDA Fashion Awards.”
