Kaiser Chiefs have said that they were worried that they were going to have to abandon their plans for a new way to release an album as they were concerned that Radiohead would beat them to it.

Speaking to the NME, Nick Hodgson, the drummer in the band, said: “Three months ago, when Radiohead did the Lotus Flower video on the Monday and announced they were putting out The King of Limbs on the Friday, we got a bit nervous. We were like, Have they just done what we were going to do?”

He added: “Then there were all these rumours, that they were going to put out another disc straight afterwards. But they didn't. It's been a bit stressful like that, because we have been keeping this secret for so long. There have been times when you get a bit drunk and feel like blurting it out.”

The Kaiser Chiefs have announced that their new album will allow fans an innovative new way to access the music and enjoy it as music lovers will ne able to choose their own track listings and artwork for the upcoming The Future is Medieval album.

It is hoped that this new format will put people off from downloading the album for free and may well be the future of all releases in the music industry which is struggling to keep up with fans who access music for free, leaving the record companies out of pocket.

Another innovation of the album is that people who buy it and then recommend it to a friend who then goes on to buy it will receive money for this in a commission based idea.

The band are urging any celebrities who do this to donate the money that they earn to charity.

“There is a danger that a lot of money will go to celebrities. But we've nominated a registered charity they can give it to: The Alzheimer's Society,” sais Nick Hodgson.
