What would you think if your favorite popstar was actually a fake computer generated image? This is what fans of Japanese group AKB48 found out the other day. Aimi Eguchi's cover was blown after fans of the biggest girl band in Japan got suspicious.

Everything was running smoothly until a request for the girl band was made to front at a Japanese ice-lolly campaign. Excited fans were disappointed to find out that singer Aimi Eguchi was just a mere combination of pixels running from a computer.

Apparently fans had wondered why the singer looked similar to the other girls in the band, later though they discovered that Aimi Eguchi was actually an avatar creation from the other girl band members looks.

It wasn't exactly hard for the pop star to get lost in the crowd though, the Japanese girl group AKB48 actually contains 58 members. Holding the Guinness Book of Records for the biggest band.

Fans were finally put to rest when the bands management released a video of the girl being created as an avatar on a computer screen.

It seems Japan has once more proved that they are one step ahead when it comes to innovation and expert marketing. Since the news disclosed, the group have now placed an avatar maker to create avatars similar to Aimi on their website.

Creating the perfect character is simple with digital avatars these day, it obviously shows the popularity of avatar characters.

Who will we be seeing next then? Could perfect boy looks Justin Beiber be a fake avatar creation? Who knows.. Probably not but he seems to hold some kind of spell which seems pre-programmed to catch the attention of just about everyone.
