Grouplove’s new track ‘Deleter’ is a breath-taking, heart-pumping romp, blowing the roof off the new year---one that is set to welcome bigger and better things for the alternative rock act as they continue thrilling their fans with their musical feats.
They are set to release their fourth album sometime this year and with ‘Deleter’ already racking up the numbers on music platforms such as Youtube and Spotify, despite being released just two days ago, they would hope that their upcoming album is as much as a blast as their lead single is. ‘Deleter’ is loud, raucous and a whole lot of fun; a cheeky rebelliousness sways through the verses alongside the fast-paced drum machines and funky electric guitars.
The accompanying music video depicts the band members breaking out of prison, clad in classic orange uniforms, and rocking out in the basements, their body language unruly yet playful. The lead vocalist Christian Zucconi’s vocals are equally delightful, while the song delves into themes of existential boredom, helplessness, and freedom. There does appear to be a current of mysteriousness and ambiguity in the lyrics, a willingness to examine complicated topics, yet the instrumentation and mood are akin to that of a party. They balance their styles fantastically well, especially going into the bridge composed of some engrossing drum solos and repeat lines.
This is their first feature since their re-release of Big Mess, their third album, and while they have not revealed much about the themes of the upcoming album, the lead single already sets a tone for the listeners. The group also has been involved in lending their tracks for feature films, including Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns, while their singles off previous albums have charted across many countries and genre lists. Lead singer Hannah Hooper speaks on the process of making a new album, “The crazy thing about making an album, like the way we are right now, we’re like ‘we need ten more years’ because we are having such a good time creating, which is such a wonderful place to be at right now.”
