- in Latest
There has been an e mail that has been doing circulating which is from the Apple iTunes store. Reports have stated that attached to the e mail is a ZIP file; security professionals have claimed that the file could make it easier for hackers to penetrate computers around the world. Thus posing a security risk to all computer users.
The well known German Eleven security website has stated that it is believed that the e mail was sent out to fall in line with the American Festive spending spree which has been named Black Friday over the years.
The e mail is claimed to be offering iTunes vouchers, free games and free music. It is now reported that it is just another scam which aims to tempt people to purchase goods before the festive season.
The correspondence within the e mail states that the reader will be offered $50 to purchase music and other goods through iTunes. In order to gain access to the voucher it directs the reader to open a ZIP file which is attached to the e mail. It turns out that the file poses a large security risk as it actually opens the readers computer to hackers wishing to capture information such as passwords or any other sensitive information, even financial details. The file can also decrease the speed of the computer and can conceal certain files.
Tech experts have however, stated that the program can be removed once it has been installed on the computer. It is easily removed using anti-malaware software which is readily available online.
