After a deadly tornado gutted parts of Nashville two days ago, the community has been trying their best to contribute with the support and cleanup efforts.
Whilst the Music City recovers, Gibson has introduced the ‘Gibson Gives Guitar Recovery Plan’. The idea is to replace guitarists who have damaged or destroyed guitars with immediate effect.
The Nashville based company said:
“Our goal is to get a guitar back into the hands of anyone who has had their guitar damaged or destroyed in the recent Tennessee storm,” says Dendy Jarrett, Executive Director of Gibson Gives. “As a Nashville, Tennessee based company, we are also engaging with our artists and other partners to provide support across many areas.”
With Nashville being a hub for countless musicians, it's inevitable there will have been considerable loss of music instruments amongst the damage.
Gibson will evaluate each story based on proof of guitar damage or loss. The company also says that replacements might be demo models, prototypes, or shop worn across Gibson’s family of guitar brands.
For any guitarist finding them in this situation, this offer could prove to be a great help, and It's also a nice geture from Gibson.
Nashville has reacted with a great community spirit since the disaster and many high profile artists have spoken out with support including; Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood. It is reported that 24 people have lost their lives.
