Spotfiy has revealed their plans to offer apps to their users, this new plan has made music lovers very excited. The Chief Executive Officer of Spotify Daniel Ek has announced that there will be a brand new app platform on the the site, this will let app developers make music apps using Spotify. It will also allow developers to tap into their huge array of songs. Developers will be able to tap into the songs free of charge for a certain period of time.  You will be able to use the program for with no restrictions and no limits once you pay the monthly subscription fee.  The app platform can be used using your mobile or from your computer.

Music technology pundits have stated that this new app platform from Spotify could be brand new powerful competitor for Apple's iTunes. Because of the fact that iTunes does not have many options and functions on it, it is fairly limited according to most that use it.

One of the first apps to be available will be Last.fm which was in itself a music streaming service that did not become quite so successful. However, it is obviously going to become popular now it is associated with Spotify. It will let users find music based on what they have already been listening to, it will also recommend songs to users as a a result of what they have liked listening to in the past.

Another app called Songkick will scan the music stored on your computer and tell you about gigs in your local area. There are also other apps on offer such the Guardian, Pitchfork and Billboard apps. You will be able to listen to music that has been reviewed and even rate and review the songs yourself.

These new apps on Spotify will no doubt create new interest in the music community and will be excellent for genuine music lovers.
