Facebook has taken it to the next level and introduced a new ticketing app.  The idea behind the app is to alert users about events and allow the user to purchase the ticket through the app without having to leave Facebook.  The app also alerts users friends when one of their friends has bought a ticket for an event.

The app is called Ticketfly and it is taking advantage of the fact that users search Facebook for artists they like. Therefore,  it is a smart choice to sell tickets through Facebook. Before fans would only be able to purchase tickets for a show by being redirected to Ticketmaster or other such website. Now fans would go to the artists fan page and immediately purchase tickets through Facebook.

Bands and record labels however, have to sign up to use the app before fans can purchase tickets directly through Facebook.

People who have tested the app have said it is an excellent idea however, there are few issues with speed and it could be made  more user friendly. Although, this new move could effect companies like Ticketmaster it will boost overall live show ticket sales. Because companies like these will be able to analyse more closely music fans online behaviour.

One good thing to come out of the release of Ticketfly is the ability of companies like Spotify to generate income by generating leads for Ticketfly and Ticketmaster.

Music promoters will be able to gauge what you like and send you concert dates and ticket prices according to the music you listen to.  One of the biggest selling points of the Ticketfly app is that users friends can see who is purchasing tickets, this could boost sales massively for Ticketfly and for promoters.
