It's news to none, that multi-platinum selling rock band, Alien Ant Farm launched one of the most successful cover songs in rock music history, with their 2001 version of Michael Jackson’s ‘Smooth Criminal’.
Earlier this year, Alien Ant Farm signed a new record deal, released a signature “IPAAF” craft beer, took on new management and stormed into quarANTine 2020 with a cover song that no one saw coming.
The band dropped their rendition of the Wham’s 1984 hit single, last friday May 8th on Megaforce Records. "The thought of doing another cover song was in the back of our minds" said Dryden Mitchell (vocalist) “With Wham's ‘Everything She Wants’, the band chose to pick an iconic person to pay homage to” Mitchell continues, "I think a bit of thought should come with picking a cover: It's gonna become your song, and in a sense, your brand if you do it right. Not to mention you're gonna be playing and hearing it a lot."
The band took to social media to encourage fans to record “quarantine” style footage for the music video, and have hinted at cameos from artists like Insane Clown Posse, 311, POD, Joe Sumner, Zedd and more!
On the record deal, Terry Corso (Guitarist) added, “A label partnership with the legendary Megaforce/MRI, was very much an unexpected childhood dream come true. Most of the band grew up staring at those photo collages printed on the back of early Megaforce metal records, now, it’s just extremely cool to be in the company of musical heroes like Bad Brains, Bjork and Anthrax.”
Alien Ant Farm mentioned late last year that they had teamed up with South African born producer Esjay Jones for their new album as well as other music-related ventures, and the Riverside natives seem beyond excited and back with a fresh vigor and enthusiasm.
