The Celebrity All-In Challenge has taken social media by storm, seeing a whole new level of fundraising efforts from celebs.
The Queen of Pop herself, Madonna, has taken on this challenge, donating a jacket she actually wore on her recent “Madame X Tour” for auction. And one lucky winner will get their very own personal rendition of “Happy Birthday” sung to them on their birthday by the legend herself. Madonna nominated pop princess Ariana Grande, who has stepped up to the call by offering a studio hangout and dinner with her. Grande’s nomination was Mariah Carey, with prizes on offer being dinner and a show with her. Carey has kept “the diva chain going” by nominating fellow singer Kelly Clarkson.
Many other musical celebs have been working tirelessly to support COVID-19 relief efforts. Food shortages have been a huge problem during the pandemic and some very famous faces in addition to the above are answering the call to help. Miley Cyrus, along with her boyfriend Cody Simpson hand-delivered 120 tacos to a Californian medical centre, Lady Gaga is donating 20% of the profits from her online cosmetic sales to food banks, Ciara and her footballer husband have donated one million meals to people in need and Justin Timberlake has donated an undisclosed amount towards food charities.
The healthcare industry has been hit especially hard by the outbreak and some big names are doing their part to contribute. Rita Ora has been volunteering with the UK National Health Service and created a line of COVID-19 themed clothing with all proceeds going to the World Health Organisation (WHO). P. Diddy, with the help of Jennifer Lopez and Justin Bieber held the World’s Biggest Danceathon to raise money for healthcare employees. Bieber also separately donated $29,000 to a Beijing charity. And Shawn Mendes has provided $175,000 to the SickKids Foundation. Pop megastar Rhianna has chipped in to help both causes, donating a massive $5 million to food banks and the medical service industry, including those working on vaccines for the virus.
Music celebrities are also thinking outside the box and helping people through the pandemic in other ways. Dua Lipa, Pharrell Williams and Alicia Keys held special online performances for 2020 graduates. Ed Sheeran spoke to a class of school kids through Zoom and even taught them how to play one of his songs. And Dolly Parton has been reading children’s books live on Facebook each week. In these difficult times, it is comforting to see our favourite musical stars doing what they can to help. Their fundraising efforts and generosity are simply beautiful to behold.
