UK singer Melanie Chisholm, who many of you may know better as Sporty Spice, one of the five now iconic Spice Girls from the 1990s, has been in talks about getting her very own radio show.

She recently appeared on UK’s BBC radio, collaborating with popular disc jockey Scott Mills for a broadcast from her home. The show was incredibly successful, perhaps even more than BBC expected it to be and rumours are swirling that this could just be the beginning of the star’s next career move.

The story is that Chisholm was invited to a virtual meeting with BBC executives not long after the show aired, to discuss her own radio show as being a possibility. While still unconfirmed at this stage, what is certain is just how natural the singer seemed to be on the radio. Not everyone can pull off a radio show, even as a guest. But Mel C seemed to take to it effortlessly, with her natural kindness and fun, sassy personality shining through clearly. 

The singer joined Spice Girls in 1994 and soon found herself on a whirlwind of fame and success. The all-girl UK supergroup took the world by storm, becoming household names virtually overnight and earning themselves a place in music history. Multiple number ones, awards won, world records smashed, a movie, action figures, the list of the legacy that has been the Spice Girls goes on. 

Following the departure of Geri Horner (nee Halliwell) in 1998, the Spice Girls momentum seemed to slow, but Chisholm’s did not. She went on to embark on a successful solo career, releasing seven studio albums, collaborating with other artists, such as Bryan Adams and taking on several acting roles. Never one to forget where she started, Mel C has also joined her fellow Spice Girls on two reunion tours, in 2007 and 2019. 

Her years of experience in the music industry and celebrity status are clearly big draw cards for her being offered her own radio show. But perhaps the biggest reason for the apparent offer is her sparkling radio personality. It would come as no surprise to fans to learn that this is true, and no doubt everyone is eagerly awaiting confirmation of this exciting news.
