The UK official chart company have named the best selling rock artists of 2011. Coldplay got the best sellers spot with a whopping 410,000 copies of hit single 'Paradise' and over 900,000 copies of their album Mylo Xyloto. Second most popular was Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds which came in respectively- Selling around half a million copies of his latest album, giving a promising come back.
Other big names in the industry Foo Fighters, Florence And The Machine and Mumford and Sons all got a mention for the most popular sellers. Florence just pipped Foo Fighters at the post, scoring third in the rankings.
Elbo, Kasabian and Snow Patrol were next in line. It has been an interesting year, with some of the biggest classic name still proving they can sell albums/singles and come out top.
The figures released were split into two sections - Albums and singles. Although the figures look impressive, album sales are nowhere what they used to be compared to the 90's. Many blame online music distribution etc for this. However some argue that online music promotion is a good way for an artist to get noticed.
