Jay-Z Brings his Glory to Carnegie Hall
- in Latest
Jay-Z has moved on strides since his critically acclaimed début album Reasonable Doubt. The glory and the magnificence still seems to be present more than a decade later. When he performed at Carnegie Hall on Monday February 6.
The upmarket venue and high class crowd watched in awe as the living rap legend performed. The show was the first of two charity concerts. The concerts were a collaboration of two minds, Jay-Z's Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and United Way of NYC. The two programs have been constructed to raise money for under privileged children who are gifted. It gives them the opportunity to go to college and improve their prospects for the future. The tickets were high priced, extremely high priced but, the show did no doubt pull out the crowds. Liza Minelli and New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia came out to support the event.
Jay-Z stunned the crowds and played to a live full orchestra, marrying classical live, stupendous artistry with modern day hip hop. The music mogul of the pop hip hop era came on the stage and began with “Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Hov.” Hardcore Jay fans stood alongside members of high society to witness something that had pretty much never been done before.
The music mogul, who recently enjoyed the birth of a baby girl with his wife Beyonce, threw all the cliché's out the window. He strutted across the stage and without conforming to the stuffy, upper class norm of the Carnegie Hall Venue. He sipped from a champagne bottle and promised the audience that he was just drinking tea and nothing else.
One of the most heartfelt moments of the entire evening however, was when he performed a rendition of his ode to his daughter Blue Ivy. The song which is lovingly entitled “Glory” is dedicated to his new born baby girl. There was a raw of applause from the audience as Jay-Z brought hip hop to the high society.
