Gary Barlow Slipped Controversial X-Factor Rule: Singers Allowed Managers
- in Latest
In a surprising revelation on UK radio, Gary Barlow said that the X-Factor show welcomes singers with managers. This means that already established artists can use the show to further their career. Barlow told Chris evens on a radio2 interview.
This new move is likely to cause controversy and could distance itself from the original point of the show, which is to discover unsigned artists who have not got the means or resources to get noticed.
Previously, artist where not allowed to take part if they already had managers. The new decision to let artists who have management deals is an attempt to increase the quality of the show after an apparent drop in the ratings.
In my opinion I would say the X-Factor should be for undiscovered new artists who can rocket themselves to stardom. Not for already established artists to take advantage of. Many people are questioning the fairness of this latest decision. It could also lose some of the character of the the show too.
According to reports Take That's Gary Barlow has been offered 2 million pounds to stay as lead judge on the X-Factor, however the singer has yet to make a final decision.
Still, the X-Factor is a massive TV show. It pulls in a big audience and it does change artists careers. Over the years it hasn't been without criticism though. Top music icons like Elton John have attacked it because of the way singers are thrown into the limelight without much guidance
