Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Bon Jovi have confirmed details of their new album 2020, which will be released through Island Records on October 2nd 2020.

The news comes after the band were forced to cancel their world tour and push back the album – which had originally been scheduled for release in May this year – as a result of the current Coronavirus pandemic.

The delay gave frontman Jon Bon Jovi more time to work on the new record, and during the lockdown period he wrote two new tracks, American Reckoning and Do What You Can, both of which have now been included on 2020.

One of those songs, Do What You Can, was given its first airing when Jon Bon Jovi performed an acoustic version of the track at the star-studded Jersey4Jersey benefit show back in April.

To celebrate the news of the new release date for 2020, the band have now dropped a lyric video for Do What You Can, which is available to view now.

Confirming the details on their official website, Jon Bon Jovi wrote: “I am a witness to history. I believe the greatest gift of an artist is the ability to use their voice to speak to issues that move us.”

The postponed world tour is yet to be rearranged. In a statement posted on their website at the time the band said: “Due to the ongoing global pandemic, it is no longer feasible for Bon Jovi to tour this summer. Given these difficult times, we have made the decision to cancel the tour entirely. This will enable ticketholders to get refunds to help pay their bills or buy groceries.

“These are trying times. You’ve always been there for us and we’ll always be there for you. We look forward to seeing everyone again on tour when we can all safely be together. We will continue to send out news and updates on Bon Jovi touring in the weeks and months to come.”
