Indiepop rockers mylittlebrother have confirmed their new album Howl will be out on 30th October 2020.

Coinciding with the news, the four-piece, comprised of Will Harris (lead vocals and piano), Dan Mason (guitar and vocals), Robin Howson (bass and vocals) and Simon Buttress (drums and vocals), have also dropped their new single Janey, taken from Howl. Howl will be the group’s second album, after 2014’s well-received debut If We Never Came Down.

They’ve also released three EPs to date and been played by BBC Radio One and BBC 6 Music. New single Janey was recorded by Lee Shackley at Music Farm in the band’s native area of Cumbria. It is gorgeously catchy song layered with delicate harmonies and reverb-y guitars that evokes the best of West Coast Americana.

The lyrics do a great job in creating this feeling too, as Harris sings mysteriously: “Janey was my friend / She said that she'd stay 'til the very end / Half an ounce of cinnamon / Half a tank of oxygen / Half an hour with me, now she's gone again.” As well as the new single and album, mylittlebrother are also celebrating signing a new record label deal with LA outfit Big Stir Records for the release of Howl in the autumn.

Writing on their official Facebook page, the band said: “Big Stir are huge long-time supporters of ours since we met at Liverpool's Cavern Club many moons ago, and they have already released many of our songs as part of their superb Digital Singles collection... “It was an easy decision when they offered to sign us. They put out great music.

They are lovely people. And they are even more passionate about our music than we are!” In a statement on Big Stir’s website, the new album is described as being “packed with melody and the fine-tuned power of the live band, the record was largely written before the COVID-19 crisis but at times eerily resonates with the world into which it's to be released. But it's also full of hope, and there's a bright future for this band.” Buy or stream Janey here.
