Anti Gay Baptist Church Group Call Radiohead 'Freak Monkeys'
- in Latest
Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas USA were obviously not fans of cult UK rock band Radiohead, when protesters gathered outside a show at the weekend. The fundamentalist christian religious fanatics bizarrely described Thom Yorke's band as 'freak monkeys'.
Its not the first time Westboro Baptist Church have caused controversy and upset people. The group is well known for their anti gay demonstrations. They are often seen waving offensive signs with messages like 'God Hates Fags' etc etc...
Later on Radiohead took to Twitter with a witty remark saying it was the "highlight of the tour".
Westboro posted a long message on their website describing front man Thom Yorke and band as as "freak monkeys with mediocre tunes", they also suggested that the wrath of god was upon them.
Westboro Baptist Church:
"Meanwhile, God is undoing this nation and effecting all of your lives, with the moth that quietly eats the very fabric of your national garment. Radiohead is just such an event".
One thing that came to my amusemnet is that they said Radiohead had 'medicore tunes', in my opinion that was kind of a weak insult, considering some of the extreme posters they exhibit. Wonder why they did not totally slate them on their music...
Its not exactly clear what the group would have against the UK band, obviously something has upset them though.

The religious group must have something against rock bands, last year US band Foo Fighters were greeted to similar demonstrations, however the band were soon to shock the Westboro demonstrators by performing a pro gay amusing song called 'Keep it Clean' on the back of a wagon leaving the protestors some what bewildered.
Currently in the USA Radiohead are set to have a Manchester and London gig date in October.
